Juan Olivarez - Good Morning Galveston

2014-06-17 4

Slowly the sun peeks
Around the clouds
On the far east horizon.

The cool breeze
Invades the land
As the senses explode
With the raucous calls
Of the gulls.

The fragrance of oleanders
And magnolias hitch rides
On the breezes.

Puffy, billowy clouds
Float so low
You can almost touch
The sun's early rays
On their under bellies.

Live oaks that stretch
From one side of the street
To the other
Come alive with
Doves and squirrels and
A virtual menagerie
Of creation.

Cool on the veranda.
