B.B. Loring - Uncondensing Universe

2014-06-17 7

When you are young
Your life is condensed
Your grandmother is drinking out of a mug
Your mother is on the phone
Her frown is making you sad
You are tired;
Your eyes shutting and
You grab at her dress
To put you to bed
Then you get older
You are a teenager
And you are in love
Your grandmother is no longer drinking
her black coffee from a mug;
Your grandfather bought her at a yardsale;
While he spend more money than he had
Your mother is no longer talking on the phone
She is yelling at your father;
Asking for a divorce
You are now an adult
And stressed to breaking
Bored and sick of routine
No longer in love; brokenhearted
The coffee cup is now made of atoms;
It was broken to peices and thrown out
When it fell from your grandmothers hand;
When she was told her husband had died
Your mother is lonely,
She calls you to complain
You are all she has left
You don't know where your father is;
Though you have no to time to worry
You are alone now too
And everything is so big,
But made of such small things
