Snow Summers - Control

2014-06-17 0

People like us project thoughts,
in words we should swallow.
Liars like us promise all, but
our vows are still hollow.
And I know trust never comes,
but I beg you to try.
As I look in your eyes,
put faith in my white lie.

But I swear this one’s true,
won’t return to revoke it.
This truth is set in stone,
before I ever spoke it.
See, I’m setting you free,
from my peculiar obsession.
I’ve kept buried so long,
but its pushed for confession.

I swear every one of your flaws,
is sprawled out before me.
And I never thought that your kiss
could ever restore me.
What I’m trying to say,
is my eyesight is fine.
I’ve always seen, you’ve never
been mine.

I never knew why,
I wanted your soul.
It wasn’t sweet company,
but something to control.
And we don’t long to destroy,
the ones we adore.
I wanted you for the keeping,
at the price of war.
