The trouble it seems
Is that two people who open their
Hearts also open the closet
The hidden sensitivities underneath
The daily conscience that lurks
Quietly waiting to spring out
Against the wakeful intention
Darkening the clear sky
Dangerously close to ruin
In a society untrained for deep
Emotions rendering expendable
Consequences tearing apart
The core of love destroying
Each other while defending
The past that has no business
Perpetrating reality like a ghost
Bringing fear insecurity even death
Into what was a hopeful union
Of those two hearts
Like children playing with matches
Unaware of the fuses that will ignite
The flames of death.
