Of all that I can remember,
And too many long forgot,
The few that earned their trust,
Never given a second thought.
The one who stands beside,
No matter the danger near,
Backed up against the wall,
The face that’s free of fear.
Of all that I can remember,
Counting fingers on my hand,
The smile of reassurance,
Together we’ll make a stand.
Names are placed upon the list.
Withdrawing one by one,
Is there not, a friend I’ve met?
Before this list’s undone.
Of all that I can remember,
The ones who come to mind,
Family has always been there,
Creating that lasting bind.
