The day we lose our innocence,
The day we become confused,
A darkened threat of ambiance,
Grips tight a life misused.
Encouraged by our loved ones,
To leave our natural being,
Following a life of reruns,
Ending the life of seeing.
Seeking long and endlessly,
While memories slowly linger,
Wondering lost and aimlessly,
As pain absorbed by a stinger.
Longing for a child’s smile,
Something to remember,
Living in a state of exile,
Life’s long past September.
The day we lose our innocence,
The day we change our rules,
Forgetting our true essence,
Turning us into fools.
