Thomas Quentin Sims - pieces into place

2014-06-17 4

well you know it's a two-star town
but those stars they burn so bright
they bring the heavens down
for all the world to see

it was time i gave up
on them coming around
it is what is and it's
taking it's own flight
if it can get off the ground
and just not crash into me

and to know that i've found
a million little pieces
that we were
just waiting to be put back
together somehow...

oh the shapes they all make
so beautiful in their own way
how the light moves over them...
and the color rays

and we thought
we could keep every one
until we all knew
what had to be done
to make them all
fit together
couldn't leave
well enough alone

and we knew we were right...
because we wanted the fight
to be heard for the life
that cried and cried and cried
pushed into its place

because we pushed
when we should've just let them stay
and we broke some when
we knew they'd never feel quite the same
and we didn't give up when
we should've just gotten out of the way
tried to come clean
by making more of a stain
gave what we had
and let the stars shine down
on where it fell into place

and now the millions of pieces
the countless little pieces
the sizes and the shapes,
the sounds
the colors and the tastes
glare and seem to fade
shift and sometimes break
crumble into dust
and fit into place
