satbir bakshi - Dulce Et, Decorum Est, Pro Patria Mori

2014-06-16 40

Dulce Et, Decorum Est, Pro Patria Mori
Its sweet and proper to die for one's country

Blood looks violet on fresh snow
Says my friend- Laljee
He should know - having left
Two vertebrae at Siachen.

If one could hear
The frothy blood come
Bursting in spurts from
Bullet ridden lungs

My friend you would not
Tell with such vigour and zest
To little boys
Ardent for some desparate glory
The Old Lie
Dulce Et, Decorum Est, Pro Patria Mori

The last stanza is dedicated to the actual poet Wilfred Owen
