Zen Woman - Divorce can be reassuring...

2014-06-16 2

A relationship with an ex is the ultimate comfort
There is a certainity about it
A constancy to their unvarying dislike of everything you did
And anything that you do now.

Not many things in life are as set in stone
as the scorn you have for the ex and they for you
The love may never have been,
but the dislike is certainly mutual now.

Other people can come and go
And your heart may bounce like a yo-yo
But your ex's distrust of you is constant and everlasting
the consistency of the emotion - so comforting.

Knowledge, as they say, is power
Indeed it is powerful to know
where you stand with your ex
Nowhere.

Nowhere do you figure in the ex's life
The certainity of that statement gives security
There is no more turmoil,
no more anticipation, no waiting for something to change.

The only emotion that remains in-between is distaste
Never changing, never wavering,
never altering dislike, distrust and distaste (sometimes disgust!)
How perfectly reassuring!
