Fred Babbin - Sonnetina in a Waiting Room

2014-06-16 1

This one has no truth – I caught a cold
and my wife quit treating her asthma,
so things looked bad.
However, I hate to waste a good poem,
not quite a sonnet.

I caught a lousy cough-cold,
It might be from my wife.
And we are both so very old
It really ruins our life.
Maybe its pneumonia –-
For her we don’t know yet –-
I’d rather have spumoni-a
But this is all we get.
Life seems to be so much that way,
I don’t know why we’re here –-
We take a roll down in the hay
And make plans for our bier
So if there’s no spumoni
I’ll settle for a beer.
