It begins with just a tiny strand,
Spun from words; quite untrue,
Layer by layer woven together,
Deception; the gathering glue.
Another lie caught in the web,
Wrapped within its wicked game,
Bringing in the venomous bite,
Spreading on its hideous shame.
Growing well that tiny strand,
False words from once we spoke,
Clinging from a twisted notion,
Passing time will ne'er revoke.
Loosely do we choose our words,
With whom we wish to impress,
Building on our grandeur's dream,
All the while, continuing to regress.
It began with just a tiny strand,
Now convoluted within deceit,
Cycles of misrepresentation,
Tangled deep, awaiting repeat.
