Herbert Nehrlich 2 - My Frigate Bird

2014-06-16 1

I could not sleep this night,
the thought of you,
of all those endless miles,
now nautical
drew me....
here, to the frigid shores
where frigate birds
smile down
as currents take them,
defying gravity
to the horizons
close to the snow-capped pines,
the ponderosa hills
where little feet,
leave footprints
crying out
for trusted company...
the ambience of the night
descending leisurely
unnoticed in its stealth,
bereft of urgency
its silent melody
takes to the skies
in wingless flight
and hopes...
I shall be here my love,
and wait,
until your feet can feel the sand,
your feathered wings become
the arms
to welcome mine.
