Hanque O . . . - Regina's Poems #014: Caught

2014-06-16 2

My dad's half suspicious
from somethin he heard at the elevator
about me and Colt

and that little joy-ridin misadventure we got into
but he don't say nothin
in front of my mother at the dinner table.

After dinner
he asks if I don't mind steppin outside
for a little fresh air

and I say yessir
and damn if he don't know the whole story
though how he ever did I don't know.

I expect I ain't got the imagination
to know what's comin next.
