C Richard Miles - Serendip Dreams

2014-06-15 3

O, let my ship
Sail, in my dreams,
To Serendip
To gather jewels
From splashing streams
And crystal pools,
Where diamonds
And emeralds
Bedeck the fronds
Of ferns and trees
And pirate gold
Glints, where salt seas
Wash silver sand
Festooned with pearls.
There I shall land
Upon the shore
Where native girls
Collect yet more
For me to take,
Like rubies red,
So, when I wake,
As white as milk
Upon my bed,
Fine sheets of silk
Shall seem so rough,
Compared to so
Much rarer stuff,
Which soothed their sleep
So long ago
In Serendip.
