If laughter can soften a hardened heart
And a smile could lift one's day
What would happen in the world
If we decided to live this way
If we determined in our hearts
to never frown or moan
And let our actions carry it out
would we melt hearts of stone
If all men thought before they spoke
assessing all their desires
would the world still fall in disgrace
from the greedy lusts conspired
Now if we threw all caution out
and held fast to God's law
would we still try to kill each other
or share love instead of war
