*Events in this poem are not true incidents.*
Is it worth it?
Up until
The wee hours of the morning
Poring over notes and textbooks
Writing on and on brainlessly -
Sleep can be
Ever so tantalizing...
Back in this pit void of life,
Going through the same tired movements
The monotonous drone of mindless chatter
Perpetually drilling a hole in my head.
Giddy with the false obsessive energy
That's the only thing
Keeping the blood pumping
Through these crippled veins -
Are those stars I see?
They dance about whimsically,
Mocking my weakness.
My legs - cannot support their burden -
My arms - are numb and lifeless -
And suddenly,
The ground gives way
Beneath my very feet,
As gravity plunges me into
An infinite hole of darkness.
Even the stars have winked out.
Nothing lives.
Nothing breathes.
Does it matter anyhow?
