It's been eight days now since a researcher became trapped in Germany's deepest cave.
52-year-old Johann Westhauser suffered injuries to his head and chest after being hit by a falling rock.
And it happened nearly three-quarters of a mile underground..
This German helicopter is delivering equipment to assist rescuers in their operation.
But there's hope for the man, who is being treated by more than one doctor, says Bavarian mountain rescue.
(SOUNDBITE) (German) SPOKESMAN, BAVARIAN MOUNTAIN RESCUE (BERGWACHT BAYERN), ROLAND AMPENBERGER, SAYING:
"We succeeded in that the patient was able to remain in the stretcher for the entire time so he did not have to get out. Three doctors are currently with the injured man, a German doctor, an Austrian doctor and one from Slovenia. So his medical care -- as far as this is possible under these circumstances -- is very good."
