I watched the full moon as it sat
Upon the ocean’s rippled back
I heard it split and saw it crack
Out popped a man in tails, top hat
He rowed to shore in crescent slice
I rubbed my eyes, I rubbed them twice!
He paddled with a tuna fish
And lulled me with his fevered wish
“Replace me on the orbit’s path
And fall in love with lunar’s laugh.”
“While spinning past the planet Mars
Hum the tune of beating stars.”
I must admit I felt an itch
To seal the deal and make the switch
But deep within his crater eyes
I sensed his swollen, bulging lies
“No thank you sir” is what I said
“The earth is where I lay my head.”
He cursed and howled then spit and flipped
Back to the moon, it locked and zipped
Then yo-yoed up in darkened skies
Raining muffled moon man cries
