Ahmad Shiddiqi - On Waiting For The Dream Of The Pigeon

2014-06-15 2

let the circling fountains cool prima philosophia
and the poet stands on the center of idea
thou shouts at the devil's yellow door
which no man foretold before

soul overflowed by love which we adore
thou shalt not leave the life any longer
dedication to one memory is simply obvious
when we took such delight in Attar's books

the stems of palm trees almost gleam in pure November
clouds floating feathery are wonderful to remember
fortune itself cannot do without wise word
off it fall forever from the round world

we feel like other men and free the pigeon
the relation to destiny which cannot be broken
our belief is the need of giving
and cherish the human being

(with great admiration to Charlotte Perkins Gilman's
The Yellow Wallpaper)
