Oh, what would i say to you now?
i could talk, but i think your smile and
those knowing, glimmering eyes would shut me up.
what if i sang to you, i think if you let me hear
a bit of your laughter, my vocal chords would cease to move.
i could write, however, my pen would fall flat
were you to speak but a whisper.
my heart leaps it seeps it reaps
even to read you is a pleasure.
to be near is ecstasy.
and sometimes i wonder in this silly
cockeyed brain of mine,
how would you like me to be, not act
for that is shallow
and we are swimming so deep and deeper still.
because you know that you own me
i can't help it.
if you asked, i would be yours forever
and wish and do wish to remain here with you.
what if one day in passing
i reached out to you.
what if i squeezed your hand
or touched my cheek to your shirt.
what if i grazed my lips against your ear
mouthing, 'i love you my dear.'
what if i became transparent
revealing my secrets and all the markings of my life.
how would you be then? not act
for that is shallow
and we are abiding in the depths.
would you tumble stumble rumble
to tell me the same?
i would if you would.
please?
i'll say it again. and a hundred times more
i love you.
i love you.
