Damsels dance with dragons
on wing
in air
Subtle breezes stir
marshes
into motion
Upon open water
dart
water beetles
like
figure skaters
on ice
Diving bell spiders
surface
Fresh bubbles
captured
dive back below
Tadpoles wiggle
poll wags squirm
among the muck
of fallen leaves
Waiting their turns
To hop atop lilly pads
as do their kin
Who croak evenings chorus
base drum
baritone
regain supreme
Beyond barbed wire post
past pastures edge
rippling water
within marsh lands
A seat
reserved for you
Pull up a stump
and enjoy
a back woods
serenade
