My Soul; Did It Ever Live
In search for love and peace
I lost my smiles and tears
My soul forgot to live
My restless soul wandered in abandoned alleys
In constant search of light
Unaffected, life went on
The stars did twinkle
The wind did blow
The rain did pour
But my soul forgot to live
Undeterred, my soul staggered along
Unconsciously it trudged
Onto the path that had
No beginning and no end
Just ditches and dead ends
Again my soul forgot to live
It sauntered silently amidst the dark
Climbing up the steps of trail
It frequently tumbled
But composed itself again
Its efforts to gain contentment
Went but vain
Even then my soul forgot to live
Surpassing the regulations of survival,
It progressed along
Searing down the relics
And the souvenirs of long gone memories
Nothing did it have
For support or inspiration
Just but the urge to go on
In the quest for inner tranquility
So, my soul forgot to live
It cried
It wailed
It mourned
But it didn’t smile
It didn’t remember to live………..
