Francis Duggan - To Another Land Their Hearts Belong

2014-06-15 1

When he and she one day will become migrants
And from their own Homelands live far away
The longing in them will be to return
And not as migrants to grow old and gray.

To spend their best years in their own Home country
Nostalgia in the migrant is always strong
They may have settled in their new surroundings
But to another Land their hearts belong.

They socialize with People from their Homeland
As many migrants are inclined to do
But still they think about their friends back yonder
There's no friends like the old friends you once knew.

It's been said that migrants should embrace the culture
Of the Land that they have chosen to live in
But many of their own kind would look on that as treason
And few would wish to be guilty of such a sin.

Some become migrants due to war and famine
They lived in fear of an enemy attack
Their cities and their homes destroyed by bombings
And sad for them they never can go back.

When he and she they leave their own home Country
For to live and work in cities far away
They don't forget their Homeland friends and family
And their dearest wish is to return to stay.
