If I hadn't been alone so long
I don't think I would be who I am
If I hadn't spent so much time trying
I really don't believe I'd understand
The struggles and the hardships
And the fight only to survive
The pain each person goes through
Each day that they are alive
I don't think I would write as passionately
Or see as much as I do
I wouldn't be the person I am today
And I wouldn't feel the same love for you
So I'm glad I went through the pain
And I'm glad I cried so many tears
Because all of that put me where I belong
With you, right here
