I HEAR ONLY THE SILENCE OF MYSELF
I hear only the silence of myself
I listen and write
And it says to me,
‘Your words too can have rhyme and reason
if you only know how to be quiet with them’
And so I shout out at the page again
A fool of myself and my own need
A failure and a failure again
A silence anyway
Despite all my shouting.
