Ruth Walters - Butterfly child

2014-06-14 2

Butterflies fluttered
on a summer’s breeze
alighting on buddleias,
daintily.

Small fingers missed,
stumbling on crane flies
and moths,
or clutching air.

Her trill child’s voice
giggled and squealed
to see the delight
and to chase it!

To catch a butterfly
was tricky
and missy’s fingers slipped,
as though on butter.

Eclectic colours
mesmerised sweet
young eyes
and then.....behold!

one Red Admiral
alighted on baby soft
blonde hair
for just a moment

My camera clicked
immortalizing the scene,
a butterfly child
to be treasured forever.
