Ruth Walters - Mirror, mirror on the wall

2014-06-14 14

I walk past mirrors,
my face looks strange, now.
It hurts to think about times past,
the girl I was, all unashamed.
for now my spirit's not the same
my morals have been tarnished.

Mirror, mirror please don't tell
please don't show how far I fell,
please be kind and fill the cracks,
give me courage that I lack.

Frightened of the mirrors scowl
and the woman I am now
I dare not look, I dare not gaze
at my odd image, rearranged,
hoping not to see the scars
etched within the mirror's glass.
