When you were by my side,
I never knew you, quite understood you,
With you to correct me, to hold my hand,
I never recognized you, or your love.
Your admonishing, your stern looks,
I mistook, for anger, for cold heartedness,
But I failed to see the love beneath,
The care, the warmth, the love beneath.
Your smile, your soothing touch, your words of concern,
Now my loss, my pain, loss of a shoulder, to lean on.
Distance between minds, now between us, I-
Repent, a ‘Sorry’, I wish to tell, yet unable to.
My mother, my guardian angel, I miss you today,
In this city, in this cold fast city.
