When I survey the world today and ponder in my quiet way.
It strikes me rather forcibly that all around me I can see.
The values that our forebears knew have disappeared but for few.
Success achieved dishonestly accepted far to readily.
The worship of celebrities a symptom of today’s disease.
today is all about top show. There is no substance hid below.
I must conclude reluctantly there’s no respect for honesty.
The world is full of reckless fools who disregard the basic rules.
Who spend far more than they earn, so creditors must wait their turn.
that is if they get paid at all, their neglect is criminal.
The greedy banks at last have learnt bad practice gets your fingers burnt.
To lend without security a self inflicted injury.
they cannot balance their accounts and have to write off vast amounts
of debts that will not be repaid and lose the profits they have made.
Encouraging fools to spend the money they so gladly lend.
Now is the time to stop and think as we are standing on the brink
of a recession caused by greed. If we are lucky we’ll succeed
in halting this calamity. Return to fiscal honesty.
There’s no escape apparently we must face harsh reality.
We have to learn to go without the things we want. If there’s a doubt about ability to pay. Cash on the nail ‘s the only way.
Much better far than credit cards despite their promise of rewards.
It is past time to return to the values that our forbears knew
What you cannot afford to buy. You cannot have. Simplicity.
