She was a special kind of mom
She worked hard for her family
How I loved her beautiful smile
That seemed especially for me
Life wasn’t always easy of course
But somehow she found a way
After the evening work was done
We would all sit down to play
For pinochle was a game
Mom enjoyed with all of us
I can see her sitting there so plainly
With her sweet smile so generous
And as the memories flood back
On this Mother’s Day
Oh how I wish I could deal the cards
So pinochle we could once again play
But nothing lasts forever
And I know she isn’t here
But in my heart and memories
She seems so very near!
