Uneasiness filled the air
As a stranger rode into town
Tension was stretched so thin
It was felt by everyone around
Animals felt the stress as well
Some scurried from the spot
More riders circled ‘round
The tension was getting hot
Guns were drawn and ready
Hands on holsters as well
Everyone growing apprehensive
Worried hearts began to swell
It was the day when no one knew
For sure how things would go
When a stranger rode into town
Life immediately began to slow
It was a time when folks were leary
Afraid to trust their fellow man
A shame if we become that way again
Not so hard now to understand!
