an ant crawls across the counter top
What is life?
when we can take our finger and squash it
a spider weaves its web in a corner

when we despise it
i look in the mirror and gaze at the cyst on my nose
What is life?
when we cannot control it
we hunger and thirst and hunger and thirst again.
What is life?
when we know it’s never enough
i love you in your saying yes
What is life?
when i know you even less
with a guardian angel
What is life?
when a baby forgotten dies from heat
He loves us so much He sacrificed His only Son for us.
What is life?
when even a God abuses His son
Don’t tell me I need to believe
What is life?
when life needs to be believed
