Jody Renee Pantiga - Anorexia

We sat
Not looking at one another
Though we were there for the same reason.

Pretending the jutting bones
Weren't bad.
That we were acheiving
Ideal beauty.

We'd spent so long
Pinching fat on our bellies
Critiquing our bodies in the mirror
Always seeing the same
Abomination
Fat overwhelming our senses.

Until all we saw was fat...
Our lives wrapped up
In counting calories,
In watching the scale go down.

Each pound lost
A minor victory
When we heard
'Have you lost weight'
It thrilled us, It chilled us
It made us want to dissapear.

After so many years
Of hearing
'You have such a pretty face
You would be beautiful
If you lost some weight'

We stand tall
Losing insane amounts of weight
We stand tall
As our beauty fades
We stand tall
When facing our grave

Because...

Nothing is as good as being thin
Nothing is as good as being
The girl all the girls wish they were
And all the boys want.
