K. Jared Hosein - (Friendship) Precious Waste of Time

2014-06-14 4

Me and the boys sat around the old wooden table
With a deck of cards,
Glasses of beer and a cool breeze.
We played gin while we told each other fable after fable
About women,
About mermaids deep in the Seven Seas.

The relaxed, gentle reggae ballads by Bob Marley
Caressed the air
From the radio on the shelf
And as we all took slow, long sips of our barley
We all felt an old freedom
That could not contain itself.

When the breeze calmed
And twilight began to beckon,
They went back to their wives,
All my partners in crime
And they said to me, 'Scotty, tomorrow we reckon
We'll be in the mood for another precious waste of time.'
