I never wanted to cause you pain
and bring to you the sorrow
that poured down from today's rain
I only wanted to give you the dreams
that flowed through Heavens streams
what once in your eyes shined a light
I never meant to take that trust away
that you reached for at the end of the day
and held through each and every night
swept through loves fields of tomorrow
where we always thought we would stay
and there would forever remain
I never meant for the tears you cried
from a love now that has only died
with a sunset that will never subside
lost in a heart that was left behind
that we will never again find
forgotten by love that was once inside
I never wanted the words left spoken
of the empty promises we left broken
torn in this loneliness we have now awoken
that shattered the hopes of today
where we once thought would be by our side
