Dorothy (Alves) Holmes - The Things That Dreams Are Made Of

2014-06-14 12

Closed eyes,
Quiet thoughts,
Brought forth
By a heart's yearning;
The longing for
Carefree days and
Long nights
Filled with love and
Laughter.
Sometimes a tear
No travesty
Should this be.

Dreams woven of
Fantacies,
Where
Fluffy pillows allow you
To steal away
To lands of pink and azure blue skies,
Where lies don't exist and
Love is warm and real; where
Feelings race with the
Tide of gentle water falls,
That never splash but
Trickle...

Where buttercups and butterflies prance,
and
Knights of any color do rush in,
With swords ablaze,
With time to swoop you and
The glass slipper up,
Lost by Cinderella;
One size fitting all.

Where rabbits substitute for mice,
Where the couch really is a pumpkin,
Of 14K solid gold,
Never changing.

Throw back your head and close your eyes
And journey to where you want to be...
But remember, you must return to the
World that is real;

For dreams are not one way tickets
To paradise,
You can only stay there for a while.
Fluffy clouds and peekaboo stars
Are a part of the scenario...

Take my advice, don't think about it twice...
The feeling is nice.
Dream on,
Dream on!
