Francis Duggan - The Mushera Hill Climbers

2014-06-14 13

On Christmas Day some Aubane people people climb Mushera hill
A tough uphill trek in the damp morning chill
Young people and people well beyond their life prime
Some of them have climbed Mushera many a time
I've often climbed Clara but never Mushera hill
Never even tried and doubtless I ever will
From green old Duhallow I live far away
And I'll never climb Mushera on Christmas Day
I felled pine trees by Mushera many years ago
When the old hill above me wore patches of snow
But to climb to Mushera's summit I never did try
I was never good at hill climbing that I won't deny
But the Mushera hill climbers one can only admire
And of singing their praises could one ever tire.
