anurag duggal - A Million Suitors and Me

A million suitors and me
O my love
my sweet catty
how do I not despair
the suspense is torturing
I am not the richest
nor do I rule kingdoms
I am no intellectual genius
nor a business baron
I dont cammand the love of zillions
I dont have ivory furniture
neither swelling bankbalance
Just a small library is all I have
with books of classical poetry
and cognitive psychology
some teach Platos philosophy
and some Einsteins relativity
while some talk of the world beyond
the diaphanous subject of metaphysics
Wordsworth and Keats
Robert frost coexist with
love sonnets of Ghalib
a small collection of Ghazals
and some forgoetten Woody Allen movies
A few unabridged dictionaries
All these are my possessions
will I ever call you my own
haha what a silly question
for who owns the roses
does he also own its fragrance as well?
who owns the monsoon rain
or the surreally beautiful
mountain train
who owns the Niagra falls
or the redwood trees tall
who owns the sweet bite of winters
or the poignancy of Autumn
The answer was to give me lasting peace
and bring to my insomniac existence a moment of sleep............
