Barry Van Allen - Skepsis

Eight small guys in front of everyone,
someone has to take a step ,
the longest journey starts that way, ... they say,
... but, what the hell do they know?

They tried to watch each other's backs,
sometimes that's all they have,
a solitary soldier and a friend in mind,
very, very few of those will ever find a decent end.

The resemblance is intentional,
but, after that, reality kind - of gets a little murky,
- - - though not all together lost.

It isn't out of bounds to think that a King
is just a figurehead,
and that the Queen could really be the power,
- - - or that the rulers of the church would stand by them,
- - - in the shadow of their Knights,
- - - or that their Knights would guard their castles.

It's when the Knights take flight,
and start flying over castles that can move,
- - - that I become a little skeptical ...
- - - that is just the way I am!
- - - not to mention, turning in mid - air !

One more complaint to note:
If you are going to fight your wars that way ,
- - - certain ground that you must stand on,
- - - how come there are no dragons?

By the way - - - ... Checkmate!
