Christina M. Sanford (Daughter of Gaia) - The Hip-Hop Movement

During the 1980's and 90's
Graffiti art flooded the walls of our decaying American cities
Macintosh introducing their Apple PC's
Our government slashing welfare benefits
With increasing corporate crimes
Left us smoking Newports and snorting white lines
When our Freedom of Speech was forced to Silence
Emerging Hip-Hop break dancing
'Droppin' Science'

Aids plagued our Urban streets
Our poverty-stricken young ladies giving birth to Crack Babies
Then America's media went completely crazy
The upper-class blaming it on the Child Abuse
Domestic Violence
The Heroine use
After President Richard Nixon declared a War on Drugs
America's 'Reagonomics'
Where the rich got richer and the poor became poorer
Our impoverish children rising up in the image of 'Thugs'
With the growing violence and hardship in our ghettos
Suffering in sweet tragedy
They continue to bleed for their Right to Breathe
Instead of War on Poverty
They were arrested and thrown in prison
Our government refusing to listen
Left behind again to see no improvement
Emerges the Second Rise of the Black Race
The Hip-Hop Movement

Rap Music collectively expelling tremendous rage
Activists looking for someone to set them free from their ghetto cage
Behold...
Tupac Amaru Shakur rises to take the microphone
And then captivates the stage

Then many came to follow
Because their tears are becoming too difficult for them to swallow
Crying upon their friends' tombstones that lies in their cemetery
The stories they tell only grows more scary
Malnourished bodies becoming more hallow
Wondering if life is worth living
Haunted by what might arrive tommorrow

America the Great has become a Home for Demons
Who continue to hide behind their many masks
Our communities bursting into tears
As our children are growing sicklier
From the shadows she continues to cast
