I have an angel in my hands
But he seems to be slipping away
After all our years of nurturing
We've nothing left to say
I held his hand for years
To help him stand up tall
Yet now we seem so far from each other
And grace is helping him take his fall
His heart has taken lessons
His Wings have learned to fly
I watch him test their stability
As he disappears into the sky
Some day he will be gone
He is already so far from home
Now I watch him fly away from me
And I wonder if he can make it on his own
