David Lovell - As Far As The Eye Could See

2014-06-14 0

As far as the eye could see, the deceit stretched only farther
It was self-perpetuating, gaining in magnitude, always thicker
Yet never slowing, flowing over the plains, through mountains, flooding valleys
It seems a man kept some on his shelf, just a little, watered-down, at his disposal
He used it here and there, to patch holes in his house, and fix broken handshakes
Such foolishness, for deceit draws unto it deceit, and all mending came undone
As all the patches and seals flowed one into the other and grew until
As far as the eye could see, the deceit stretched only farther
