Nathan Strange - I'll Catch You At The Cross Road

2014-06-14 8

He was a good kid that one, I liked him a lot

When I needed a friend
He was there
Had the energy of an athlete
The strength of a bear
He wanted a good Future
Struggling with the
Demons from his past

We used to go out
To the pub for a blast
Get drunk, do drugs
Felt like an outcast
But the kid had heart
And I admired him for that
Even when
He started trouble
I had his back
It didn’t matter
He was insecure
And grew up rough
His family left him
He had to be tough
I knew he was poor
Living with crack heads
And suffering raw
I wanted to save him
From what I saw

YOU HEAR ME!
I WANTED TO SAVE HIM
GOD
I HONESTLY DID

He needed his friends
He was confused and young
I took him to my house
And let him stay for a week
My parents didn’t understand
Not seeing his pain
They didn’t understand it
And turned him away
He tried suicide one time
But failed that day
He needed attention
Guidance from above
Then one night
I get a
phone call
‘Your friend was
Stabbed in a brawl!
I should’ve seen it coming
I felt like a fool
Stabbed in the neck
And kicked to the kerb

YOU HEAR ME?
I WANTED TO SAVE HIM
GOD!
I REALLY DID!

I remember him well,

The friend
I tried to save

I saw it all coming
But was helpless
On the day

He was a good kid,
And taught me a lot,
Died so young
Corpse left to rot
and my eighteenth birthday
I’ve never forgot
When he sang Bon Jovi’s
‘Always’
I guess
That was his plot
His Goodbye to me
A memory
I’ll take to my grave

I remember him;
The boy
I tried to save

HE WAS A GOOD KID GOD
ONE I COULD CONFIDE IN
GOD BLESS YOU
ADAM
WHERE EVER YOU ARE
I’LL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU

I’LL LOOK TO THE STARS!
