on the dry hot burning sands of time
one before the other
nameless countless senseless
except for the pain, the incredible pain,
so you remember nothing more
except the pain
heartbeats drumming on
not belonging, mechanical
one after the other
nameless countless senseless
except for the void, the frightening void
bereft, shipwrecked and alone
surrounded by an ocean of faces
each like the other
nameless countless senseless
except for the yearning, the hope
to see love for me once more in your eyes
