She donned her mask of silence and strode boldly into the crowd. Turning slowly, capturing the eyes of all in her presence. She wondered sadly if any one person actually saw the burning intelligence behind her eyes. Do they know she desires more than the existence she has chosen for herself?
Her mask changes. Her smile now brightly lighting the room, again, drawing all who come near. Not one person seems to notice that her eyes are the cold slickness of steal.
She walks among strangers who claim they know her, but barely see beyond the facade she has so carefully fashioned. Polite and civil conversation strive to suffocate the animal that lurks within. She strives to escape her self-fashioned cave of illusion.
She feels the presence of light burning into her flesh. She turns to it. She turns to him. A slight gasp escapes her as she realizes he is looking beyond the mirage. He is looking at her....
