Please, Don't Tread On Me
by Barbara Lynn Terry

Please, don't tread on me,
I am only five years old,
Let me live so I can be,
A big girl to be told,
Life's lessons so I can see,
Just how I can be me,
So grown up and tall,
Just like mommy is,
And I can know this
Is not the end,
Because I have to send,
Mommy my love,
And maybe daddy won't shove,
Me into my room,
Making me feel this is my doom.
