A fellow from across the sea
doesn’t allow messages
don’t know him well
so don’t know why
this need
but every man
should know what he’s doing
and I respect such insight.

Jerry Hughes, Loser
couldn’t let that stand
and usually I never
enter public quarrels
basically
not smart enough
for scintillating repartee
but
couldn’t let that poem
stand, as if true.

Also gotta stick up
for this land
land of the free
and home
of the brave.
Ah,
so many sighs now
laughter not far behind
yet
many here feel
the bloody pain
Bush has shoved down
our clotted throats.
