Barbara Attaway - We Slept and Dreamt of Distant Shores

2014-06-13 3

Written with sister, Lois King.

Hold together, Dreams,
we plead.
In the morn
you and I
will be free.

But before we sleep
our deepest, darkest sleep
an engulfing, entwining
past
seeps in to wrest and erase our dreams

The wail woke us.
Oh, Sleep, Sleep,
shall our dreams die
echoing this?
Be gone, gone mournful wail.

We slept
Our dreams echoing from distant shores...

We awoke
Before our souls returned.
