I`m very quick to admit that I`m thick
I`ve never ever been clever
I must concede most of that that I read
On Ph just ain’t worth my endeavour
I ask who knows what`s poetry or prose?
Rhythm’s a word too absurd to the herd,
They write words in a way that they think looks ok
If rhythm happens it`s by luck it occurred,
,
I`m much too old, a dog to be told
New tricks that`ll fix the mortar and bricks
Of the stuff that I write. As I say I`m not bright
I`m prepared for the stones and the sticks.
Now I`ve turned seventy nine, it`s time I drew a line
I`ve not been ablaze with a phrase to amaze,
Or a great paragraph that would make the world laugh,
So it`s time I was put out to graze.
