There was a love
That was a'birthing,
Tender and soft,
Warm and young,
And it died
As it was a'borning.
The ones
Who were there
To welcome it into life,
Who waited,
With bated breath,
To know what came next,
Were sorely disappointed.
It died much too soon,
The Doctors were explaining,
Because there was
No nourishment.
The cord was cut
Too soon,
The father had left,
And the mother
Was left a'crying.
